Formed in 2006, After Dark Horrorfest (also known as “8 Films to Die For”) was an annual travelling horror film festival featuring eight independent horror movies, sometimes with “secret” bonus films, all distributed by After Dark Films in the USA.

Many of the films that the festival spawned actually turned out to be pretty great – for example, ‘Dark Ride’, the story of an escaped serial killer, was actually a pretty awesome horror movie.

And then there was ‘Lake Mungo’, probably the most popular movie that the festival ever spawned.

Although After Dark Horrorfest only ran for a few years, we’d love to see it return one day as it obviously did great things for the horror genre, and gave previously unknown filmmakers a platform for their work.

If we ever see the return of the festival then we’ll be sure to pay a visit!
