Yesterday, Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) announced that Apple were launching a streaming service priced at $4.99 per month – an announcement that shocked many, including of course Disney and Netflix.
Apple are not known for their low prices, as they usually position themselves at a higher price for any product or service. However this price for their streaming service puts them well under Netflix, and even under Disney (who are launching Disney+ later this year).
In fact, this price means that currently you’ll be able to get Disney+ ($7) and the new Apple streaming service ($4.99) for less than the price of Netflix’s main plan ($13) by $0.01. Coincidence? We think not.
The service will be called Apple TV +, yet another boring name for a streaming service. At least ‘Netflix’ is a cool brand name.
