One of the most annoying things about Netflix for me has always been getting recommended the same films or tv shows over and over again, and often getting them recommended in a confusing manner. Suddenly, ‘Annabelle: Creation‘ is a horror classic, and I’m getting recommended a bunch of murder documentaries just because I watched half an episode of Mindhunter.
But Netflix are looking to resolve the occasions when their ‘Collections’ feel weird, and that’s by getting humans to curate them rather than algorithms.
According to The Verge, this is only being tested on iOS currently and only roughly half of users will be seeing the collections curated by humans.
The humans curating the lists are apparently “experts on the company’s creative teams”, hopefully experts in film!
Some of the collections they’re putting together include “Watch in One Weekend” and “Stream & Scream.”
