The most disturbing movies on Amazon Prime (5 options)

Published by Streaming Movies Right staff | Blog

Amazon Prime has movies that are suitable for the whole family, which is what makes it such a great streaming platform. However, Amazon Prime definitely has a number of disturbing movies available to stream, some of them are great and well worth a watch, and some of them...aren't.

We thought we'd round up the most disturbing movies on Amazon Prime that you can stream right now (2022). Let's get into the list:

We Need To Talk About Kevin (2012)

Based on the popular book by Lionel Shriver, We Need To Talk About Kevin is the story of Kevin and his mother, played by Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller respectively. Kevin is a troubled child who finds it hard to behave and acts aggressively towards his mother. As he ages, his mother finds it harder and harder to feel love towards her son. The movie ends with a really disturbing scene which although shocking, isn't necessarily surprising based on Kevin's behavior throughout the rest of the movie. This is definitely the type of movie that will stick with you, you can find it on Prime Video here

Suspiria (2018)

Although the original Suspiria could probably be included in this list, we think that the 2018 remake is even more disturbing. The story of a dancing school in Berlin doesn't exactly sound disturbing, but trust us when we say it really is. Without ruining too much, let's just say the teachers are not what they seem. And also, the last 30 minutes or so of this movie is like something plucked straight from a nightmare. You can find the movie on Prime Video here

Climax (2018)

2018 must have been a good year for disturbing movies because here is another one in our list. Climax is definitely not as scary as Suspiria, but it is definitely disturbing. It's basically just about a group of French dancers who are rehearsing, but all get spiked. What follows is a crazy 90 minutes showing exactly what can happen when you take LSD. Definitely not one to watch before you head on a night out. You can find this movie on Prime Video here

Trainspotting (1996)

Some people might not describe this movie as disturbing because it has comedic elements, but we think Trainspotting fits the bill. Following a group of drug users in Edinburgh, this movie shows exactly what can go wrong when you allow drugs to consume your life. We also include this film in our list of the best movies about drugs. You can find it on Prime Video here

The Neon Demon (2016)

Most people are already aware that the model industry can be a very dark and twisted world, but The Neon Demon takes it to a whole new level. From the director of Drive, this follows film a young model as she tries to break into the industry. We find it disturbing because of how young the lead character is supposed to be (16) and the way in which she is treated. You can find the movie on Prime Video here
