How to watch The Shape of Water for free (100% legally)

If you’re based in the USA and you’re looking to stream The Shape of Water in 4K Ultra High Definition legally and for free (yes, 100% free), there’s a great method you can use right now (August 2026), here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

At the moment, you can stream The Shape of Water for free via Cinemax, a service you can use for free via Prime Video with a free trial (even if you don’t have Prime Video). It’s super easy to start and cancel this free trial, and as long as you remember to cancel the Cinemax free trial after you’ve watched the movie and before the 7 days are over, you won’t be charged anything at all. There’s no catch – this is just a great way to stream this movie for free in crystal-clear quality without any annoying pop-up ads or sketchy websites!

All you have to do is:

• head to the page for The Shape of Water on Prime Video
• start the 7 day free trial for Cinemax (there’s a button to do that on the page as shown in the image above)
• watch the movie within the 7 day period
• cancel the Cinemax free trial before the 7 days are up (which is very easy to do within your Account settings)
• and that’s it – you just watched The Shape of Water online in excellent quality for free without paying anything!

As long as you cancel the Cinemax free trial before the 7 days are up, no payments will be taken, as explained on the Prime Video The Shape of Water page here.

Don’t have Prime Video? No problem!

You can do this very easily if you already have Prime Video, but even if you don’t already have a Prime Video account, it’s no problem – you can still start the Cinemax free trial as long as you have an Amazon account:

As long as you don’t mind watching the movie within the 7 day period (which is really easy to do, just start watching the movie as soon as you start the free trial), it’s the best way of watching the movie for free right now, legally, in excellent quality and with all the extras like subtitles. You can learn more and start the free trial on the The Shape of Water page on Prime Video here.
