I paired my viewing of ‘The Well’ by Federico Zampaglione with a viewing of the first ‘Terrifier’ movie, and that actually made for quite an interesting experiment. There is no denying that the gore in the first ‘Terrifier’ movie is impressive, but the lack of any kind of character development leaves it all feeling a little bit empty.
What I really enjoyed about ‘The Well’ is that, in very little time, Zampaglione manages to make you care about the characters. So when the time comes for them to be facing gruesome deaths, you actually feel something.
And I must admit, some of the deaths in ‘The Well’ really got under my skin in a way that ‘Terrifier’ couldn’t quite manage.
‘The Well’ goes to a place that very few people will be expecting, but it keeps the movie exciting and engaging.
If you’re into low budget horror movies with great gore and disturbing imagery, definitely give it a shot.
