Mr. Topaze ('Peter Sellers') is an unassuming school teacher in an unassuming small French town who is honest to a fault. He is fired when he refuses to give a passing grade to the grandson of a baroness. His honesty leads him to be hired by a business, but when he finds out he is being used he decides to turn the tables on his manipulators.
