Thor: Ragnarok

The third Thor movie (and seventeenth Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie) takes the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) further afield than ever before, as he has to defend Asgard from not one, but two villains intent on conquering his home world.

To make matters worse, one of these villains also happens to be his sister Hela (Cate Blanchett), who re-appears only to destroy Mjolnir and banish Thor to a scrapheap planet on the outer edges of the universe.

On this planet, Thor encounters a colourful but psychotic ruler with a penchant for gladiatorial combat, an alcoholic Asgardian called Valkyrie, his mischievous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) a particularly strong and perpetually angry Avenger, and a talking pile of rocks.

Lost in space and weakened by the loss of Mjolnir, Thor must make his way back to Asgard in time to prevent its destruction, and somehow find the strength to defeat Hela without his trusty hammer.
